4 Myths About Owning A Pit Bull

Be honest. When you think about pit bulls you think aggressive and deadly. At least I do. Over time these poor doggies have taken a really bad rep. Here is the 4 top myths about owning a pit bull.

1. Pit bulls are aggressive towards humans and dogs.

While it is true that people use and train pit bulls for dog fights, they are not all threatening. Pit bulls have been made popular on the streets. They are big-boned dogs that look aggressive, therefore have been made aggressive for these illegal fights. Dogs become however you train and raise them to be so this accusation is false.

2. They are categorized under “bully dogs”.

The term “bully” means that these dogs are descendents of the original baiting dogs. Baiting dogs were brought up and raised to hold bulls, bears, and other large animals. People usually confuse the term and automatically assume that they inherit a vicious gene. Other dogs that pertain to this group are bulldogs, mastiffs, boxers, and more.

3. Pit bulls will attack at random and without warning.

It is probably unlikely for any dog to quickly turn on it’s owner and attack. Usually there are warning signs in behavior which can clearly be heard or seen when a dog is aroused, upset or afraid.

4. Don’t adopt pit bulls from shelters.

Adopting any type of dog from a shelter could be both a risk and a blessing. Usually adopting from shelters has a positive outcome. Many of these shelters take time to train and make sure the dogs are properly taken care of in order for them to find good homes.

Now, here are the cutest and most tender pictures of pit bulls that will quickly put these myths to rest.
